The experience of nature outside of the rat race of our society invokes relaxation most likely brought about in part by oxytocin. Less stress more oxytocin, more peace. I'm sure Thoreau probably thought something along these lines as he pondered nature out by the pond.
There was a question regarding Reactive Attachment Disorder...there are a few studies now looking at the impact of abuse and neglect on the natural oxytocin response system. Paul Zak is also conducting research on the oxytocin responses of female sexual abuse survivors. More research is available on oxytocin at http://www.oxytocincentral.com
Thanks for you insights.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09281582622980647287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8794312182471569364.post-67467315846493854642011-03-30T14:03:16.492-07:002011-03-30T14:03:16.492-07:00Thank you! I miss the incredible sense of peace I felt while nursing my babies and being infused (as I understand it) with oxytocin!Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03265763475632104771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8794312182471569364.post-16665382413951304092011-03-16T20:15:54.491-07:002011-03-16T20:15:54.491-07:00I have not read anything about this, but will post...I have not read anything about this, but will post a comment if I come across something.Scott D. I'd be interested to see if attachment disorders have a chemical component as well as a neurological.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
